Black Forest Christmas Party

Black Forrest Christmas Party
A few years ago, the theme for our annual Christmas Party was "Christmas in the Black Forest." I was inspired by woodland illustrations of gingerbread style houses, doe-eyed creatures and ruby red mushrooms. I wanted to create an environment that if you thought you saw a cute little gnome out of the corner of your eye, chances were you actually did.

The centerpiece was a pre-made gingerbread house. A silver wood patterned runner made from wrapping paper and iridescent snow, completed my look.

We served German comfort food - bratwurst and cheesy spaetzle.

Here's a recipe similar to the Buche de Noel I made. It's a yummy chocolate jelly roll with meringue mushrooms garnishing it.
