After not getting much sleep the night before (THE SNIPE!), we woke up early and got some skyr (icelandic yogurt) and digestives for breakfast from the gas station. Jökulsárlón, glacier bay (jökul means glacier), was our first stop of the day. It was high on both of our lists of places to see in Iceland and it did not disappoint. It's hard to pinpoint my favorite thing from the trip, but this was one of them for sure. The various blues, greys, and whites of the glaciers was unreal. There were seals swimming around the bay which made it seem all the more wild and dangerous. We stayed a while taking pictures of the bay and the black sand beach, sipping on some hot chocolate coffee.
We drove to Höfn, a small fishing town on the south-eastern coast. Höfn is the lobster capital of Iceland so of course we indulged in some lobster pizza as well as some fish and chips at Kaffi Hornid. We got a pear pavlova for dessert (one of my favorite desserts).
Vern and I make the drive back to our campsite on full bellies and did a little off roading along the way.
Slept much better that night thanks to EAR PLUGS.

These washed up glacier pieces look like they are glowing against the black sand.
